Starting Again from Don Bosco

The text is produced as Fr Ian Murdoch left it with us. As they are conferences given at retreats, there are internal references to something that will be covered in a later Conference, or that was covered earlier. There are no footnotes that refer forward or back. No attempt has been made to introduce a scientific apparatus. The voluminous and sprawling work of Don Lemoyne and Don Ceria, known as the Memorie Biografiche (19 volumes) is referred to as EBM (English Biographical Memoirs) with the relevant volume and page numbers indicated. However, references to and citations from General Chapters (abbreviated as GC followed by a number indicating which Chapter), citations from major figures in Salesian scholarship, and from a number of Rectors Major, especially Don Egidio Viganò, are not documented. There was no need for such indications in the spoken word. I could have searched out the references, but it is Ian’s spoken word that you have in your hands, and I trust, will be in your hearts.
